Dear Colleague:
On behalf of The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the Institute of Applied Science & Medicine (the Institute), I cordially invite you to attend the annual American Conference on Pain Medicine on June 15-16, 2007, at the Marriott Marquis Times Square in New York City. This 1 1/2-day continuing medical education (CME) conference will provide unique insights for pain specialists and primary care physicians and an opportunity for both groups to discuss issues of common interest. The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 10.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
The American Conference on Pain Medicine will present the most current clinical information on the diagnostic and therapeutic management of chronic cancer and noncancer pain, including complex regional pain syndrome, migraine, and other pain disorders. Depression, anxiety, and other psychiatric conditions typically associated with pain will also be discussed.
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
| • |
Review the pathophysiology of prevalent chronic pain conditions. |
| • |
Explain psychosocial issues faced by patients with chronic cancer and noncancer pain and their implications for the improvement of palliative care and patient quality of life. |
| • |
Evaluate current and emerging multidisciplinary treatment strategies for patients with chronic pain. |
| • |
Identify key medical, legal, and regulatory issues that may influence the management of patients with chronic pain. |
|
The American Conference on Pain Medicine has been realized through a partnership between The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the Institute. The Institute, a McMahon Group company, is working in cooperation with three of McMahon’s publications, Pain Medicine News, Anesthesiology News, and Primary Care Quarterly. The world-renowned Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is providing clinical support as well as certification for the program.
We are certain this event will prove to be a valuable educational experience for pain specialists and primary care physicians alike. I look forward to seeing you in New York!
Sincerely,
